Jamie Norwood is co-founder of Winx Health, formerly Stix, a sexual health brand that counts Kerry Washington among its investors.
How would you describe your job to someone who doesn’t work in retail? We make better products for vaginal and sexual health that focus on education and ease.
One thing we can’t guess about your job from your LinkedIn profile? I do all of the graphic design work for our brand!
What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on? Our Restart Morning-After Pill Donation Bank. After the Dobbs Supreme Court case was announced and Roe v. Wade was overturned, we raised enough money from our community to donate over 30,000 doses of the morning-after pill to women all around the country who were losing access to abortion.
Which emerging retail trend are you most excited about right now, and why? Physical products with simple digital integrations. I don’t want anything complicated or to have to download an app! Let me scan a QR code and get what I need in just a couple steps.
What’s your go-to coffee order? I keep it simple, usually just coffee with regular milk. If I’m sitting down somewhere for coffee to really enjoy, I’ll order a cappuccino.
Worst piece of advice you’ve received? To take as many investor meetings as possible. Sometimes you can tell when it’s not the right fit before you even talk, and time is precious. Just by looking at a fund’s portfolio or mission statement, it can be pretty clear whether or not it’s worth your time.
What was your favorite retail product when you were 15? I was 15 in 2008, so I think I’ll have to say a tie between leggings and Uggs. Today, my favorite retail product is my Blundstone Chelsea boots. I wear them every day fall through spring and they’re comfortable, go with everything, and hold up so well.
