March brought with it several retail executive shifts—some, interestingly, on the exact same day. Here are the moves to know:
- Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen suddenly resigned from the grocer following “a board investigation of his personal conduct,” that determined his actions contradicted its business ethics policy. Lead director Ronald Sargent took over as interim CEO.
- On the same day, Albertsons also said its CEO Vivek Sankaran will retire from his role on May 1, with COO Susan Morris slated to take over.
- David’s Bridal named Kelly Cook, its president of brand, technology, and finance, as its new CEO starting April 1, with current CEO Jim Marcum shifting to executive chairman. Cook’s plans include marketing the retailer as a media company, and introducing an online marketplace, she told CNBC.
- Beyond, Inc. appointed executive chairman Marcus Lemonis as its principal executive officer after Dave Nielsen, its president and principal executive officer since June 2024, left the company.
- The Container Store’s CEO Satish Malhotra resigned a few weeks after the company’s exit from bankruptcy. The retailer has subsequently formed an Office of the CEO led by board chairman Joe Bines.
- LVMH announced a number of executive shifts, including the appointment of Loro Piana CEO Damien Bertrand as deputy CEO of Louis Vuitton and Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou as Christian Dior Couture’s deputy CEO.
- Five Below added Jacob Hawkins, former Forever 21 chief marketing, digital, and omni officer as its new CMO, Five Below’s CEO Winnie Park, said on an earnings call.
- QVC Group hired media exec Alex Wellen as its president and chief growth officer amid turnaround efforts.
- Revlon named a new chief information and digital officer, Starbucks and McDonald’s vet Ralph Marshall, ahead of its current CIO Paul Smith’s departure next month.
In memoriam: Charles A. Krasne, the 94-year-old CEO of grocery distributor Krasdale Foods, which owns New York City grocery banners like C-Town, died after leading the company for over 50 years. Krasne was the second CEO in Krasdale Foods’s 117 years in business, after his father who founded the company.
