As the holidays draw near, shoppers are prioritizing holiday essentials to keep a decorated home, the latest Shopify sales data shared first exclusively with Retail Brew suggests. The tech platform that builds e-commerce stores, reported top-selling items for September included Christmas tree stands, wreath, floral frames, and holiday stockings.

Orders for Christmas tree stands jumped 81%, while sales of Advent calendars rose 74%. Wreath and floral frames racked up 73% in sales. Holiday stockings, holiday ornaments, and wrapping paper also saw increases.

Tidying up: Holidays are also a time to declutter. Orders for household storage bags popped 209%. Sales of household storage drawers (up 89%) and spice organizers (up 40%) also spiked.

September was also about tidying up yourself, aka self-care. Sales for items such as hair clippers and trimmer accessories popped more than 264%. Dental tool sets were close behind with a 256% spike in sales. Refillable makeup palettes and cases (up 92%) and hair curlers (up 33%) also saw increases.

Fall is here: Fall offers bakers spices like cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and nutmeg to capture the essence of the season—a state more easily achieved if you have bought items like spice grinders, apples, and hot drink makers. Sales of spice grinders popped 178% in September, while sales of apples, and hot drink makers rose 170% and 50%, respectively.

Those who enjoy winter sports are upgrading their equipment. Ski bindings, sleds, and related accessories were among top priorities for winter sport enthusiasts. But shoppers also bought snowmobiles (up 94%), ski boots (up 94%), and ski poles (up 56%).
