Adding to a never ending list of AI tools for online merchants, Poshmark has released another one to help sellers list items from their closet on the platform. The kicker: This tool has a built-in listing preview.
“This is really a fresh take on how you list, and it’s very different. For example, it has a full listing preview built in,” Poshmark CEO Manish Chandra told Retail Brew.
The tool, called Smart List AI, was dubbed a “completely fresh” take on AI listing tools by Chandra, because of its built-in preview feature, he said. By scanning an image of the item, a seller can create a product listing without having to manually enter details into a form.
To be sure, resale platforms like eBay have AI tools like magical bulk listing to process hundreds of photos per batch and create numerous drafts simultaneously. Poshmark’s classic list tool resembles the AI listing flow similar to that other competitors have, Chandra added.
“The big difference is, classically, what would happen is [you] take a picture, then you go to a form, which is a form that you fill out with all the characteristics and what most companies have done…You can generate some stuff, but you still are filling out this form,” Chandra said.
“What happened [at] Poshmark is you instantly get a listing and then there’s buttons with which you can configure the listing,” he added.
Poshmark’s Smart List AI tool is a combination of in-house technology and open source models. The resale platform founded in 2011 has been testing this AI tool with sellers for the last few months and claims it cuts down on listing time by 48% on average.
In 2023, Poshmark also released a tool called Posh Lens, which allows shoppers to take a picture and this tool goes out and scans for the best product on the platform that matches that picture and does sort of a full visual search. At a high level, Chandra dubbed both these AI features as a “co-pilot” for the shoppers and the merchants selling on Poshmark, respectively.
Overall, Chandra said in 2025 and 2026, “the entire company is going to be rethought through from an AI perspective…We think AI is really the future of resale, and we are leaning heavily into it.”
